Delegation of the European Parliament visits the Kurdistan Region

Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, received a delegation of Members of the European Parliament led by Sara Skyttedal, Chair of the Committee on Relations with Iraq, on March 8 in Erbil.

The members of the European Parliamentary delegation expressed their readiness to develop relations with the Kurdistan Region and pointed out that the European Parliament supports a strong Kurdistan in Iraq.

Both sides exchanged views on the importance of resolving the issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad on the basis of the Iraqi constitution. Holding parliamentary elections was another topic of discussion. Prime Minister Barzani reiterated the readiness of the Kurdistan Regional Government to hold elections this year. The Prime Minister also discussed the reforms of the ninth cabinet in the field of economic diversification and building a strong economic foundation. He also discussed the opportunities to benefit from the expertise and advanced experience of European countries.

The delegation of the European Parliament also met with President Nechirvan Barzani on the same day.
