Iranian Foreign Minister meets high-ranking officials of the Kurdistan Region

Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, to discuss regional developments and bilateral relations.

Prime Minister Barzani spoke at length about developments in Iraq. Both agreed that a constitutional agreement to solve disputes between Erbil and Baghdad serves the interests of all of Iraq’s peoples.

Prime Minister Barzani and Foreign Minister Zarif also reviewed ways to develop bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Region and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and in trade and investment in particular. They also touched on the importance of coordinating the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also met with President Nechirvan Barzani and held a press conference. In this occasion, both the President and the Foreign Minister highlighted the importance of the historic, economic, social and cultural ties with the Islamic Republic in addition to an enormous trade exchange.

The President reiterated that advancing these ties and expanding the cooperation between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with the Islamic Republic in areas of mutual importance and interest has always been cherished and sought after by the Kurdistan Region.
