On 3 September 2024, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with a delegation from the United Kingdom led by Oliver Christian, His Majesty’s Trade Commissioner for the Middle East and Pakistan, and His Majesty’s Consul General to Dubai. The meeting was also attended by Andrew Bizley, the UK Consul General in the Kurdistan Region.
Discussions centred on enhancing bilateral relations, with a particular focus on expanding trade and investment opportunities.
Prime Minister Barzani expressed his appreciation for the continued support and assistance provided by the British Government to the Kurdistan Region. The British Trade Commissioner underscored the strategic importance of the Kurdistan Region, highlighting its significant potential for furthering economic collaboration between the UK and the Region.
The meeting concluded with the signing of a strategic trade agreement aimed at fostering trade development and identifying key areas for growth, including agriculture, healthcare, human resource development and technology.
