President Nechirvan Barzani chaired the KRG cabinet meeting, which was attended by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani at the Kurdistan Region presidency headquarters.
At the start of the meeting, the president congratulated the prime minister and the Kurdistan Region Government’s 9th cabinet and offered his support for the steps taken by the government to provide public services and projects and also continuing the reform process. The president urged that all fellow citizens should equally be offered services.
The president reiterated that the Kurdistan Region will support and help Iraq to recover from the current challenging situation. He also said that, “we hope to resolve our problems with the federal government on the basis of the constitution.”
President Nechirvan Barzani also said that the Kurdistan Region will remain a factor for stability in the region and will maintain a balanced relation with all the parties on the basis of mutual respect.
Prime Minister Masrour Barzani thanked the president for supporting the 9th cabinet and said that he will continue with the reform process, which is designed to ensure justice.
With regard to the current state of affairs in Iraq, the Prime Minister underlined that, “at the onset of our work, we have attempted to resolve our issues with the federal government and hope the next Iraqi government shows commitment to the agreements reached between us on the basis of the constitution.”
Later in the meeting, KRG ministers of health and interior presented a report on coronavirus and ways for people to protect themselves and prevent the spread of the virus in the Kurdistan Region. The ministers also reiterated that so far no case of coronavirus infection has been recorded in the Kurdistan Region.
