On December 16, 2023, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

We exchanged views on the situation in Iraq, provincial elections and ways to solve Erbil-Baghdad disputes.

Their discussions focused on the ongoing Provincial Council Elections, unresolved issues between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government, and the importance of protecting the rights of diverse communities within the Kurdistan Region.
The Special Representative also met President Barzani on the same day.
