President Nechirvan Barzani had a meeting with British Ambassador to Iraq Stephen Hitchen in Erbil on Wednesday. The focus of their discussion was on the upcoming Kurdistan Parliament elections, the ongoing internal developments in the Kurdistan Region, and Erbil-Baghdad relations.
During the meeting, both the President and the UK Ambassador emphasized the significance of conducting the elections and addressed the sensitivity of the current situation. They recognized the need for political parties to settle their disagreements to overcome the challenges ahead. They shared the view that dialogue, in accordance with the Constitution and with the assurance of everyone’s rights, should be the approach to finding solutions to the issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
Furthermore, the meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the latest developments in the wider region and other matters of mutual interest.
