In a phone call Thursday evening, 14 August, President Masoud Barzani spoke with Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz about the dramatic humanitarian situation of the 1.5 million refugees in the Kurdistan Region. President Barzani thanked the Republic of Austria for the rapid provision of humanitarian assistance, which includes one million Euros from the Relief Fund for Disasters Abroad that had already been designated for the Kurdistan Region a week ago. Foreign Minister Kurz assured President Barzani also, that humanitarian supplies for the health care provision for 100,000 refugees will soon be ready for transportation to the Kurdistan Region.
