Prime Minister Masrour Barzani met with Abdul Latif Rashid, the President of Iraq, on May 12.
The meeting, attended by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani, focused on the importance of federalism in Iraq, the constitutional status of the Kurdistan Region, and addressing pending issues between Erbil and Baghdad based on the Constitution and existing bilateral agreements.
They both agreed on the need to protect the constitutional and federal entity of the Kurdistan Region and secure the constitutional rights of its people.

President Nechirvan Barzani also held a meeting in Erbil with President Rashid.
The meeting, attended by the Vice Presidents and Kurdistan Region officials, centered around the prevailing situation in Iraq and the wider region, emphasizing the imperative of upholding security and stability and resolving the outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
President Rashid expressed his dedication to strengthening the relationship between the Federal Government and the Kurdistan Regional Government, as well as addressing the concerns of farmers in the Kurdistan Region with regards to the Iraqi Government.
In turn, the Kurdistan Region President emphasized the significance of concerted efforts to maintain peace and stability and surmount the problems between Erbil and Baghdad. The President also provided an overview of his recent visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran and the relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and Iran.
Furthermore, the meeting delved into the relations between Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with neighboring countries, the wider region, and with the international community.
