The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has recently intensified its focus on infrastructure, private sector investment, and environmental protection. Prime Minister Masrour Barzani has visited several major project sites across the region, underlining the government’s strategy to modernize key sectors, boost production, and ensure sustainable resource management.
Erbil: Major Agricultural and Livestock Project
Near Erbil, the government inaugurated a large-scale agricultural and livestock project spanning more than 360 dunams, with an investment of around 100 million US dollars. The complex includes crop farming areas, animal breeding facilities, a modern slaughterhouse, a food processing plant, a commercial center, and water infrastructure to support production. The Prime Minister stressed that the government’s role is to facilitate private investment rather than replace it, aiming to strengthen local production capacity, create jobs, and reduce reliance on imported goods.

Qushtapa and Bestana: Water and Environmental Protection
In another series of visits, the Prime Minister inspected water and environmental projects in Qushtapa and Bestana, as well as in 72 surrounding villages. These projects are part of a wider plan to secure the Kurdistan Region’s water resources and improve access for both urban and rural areas. The government emphasized that protecting water and the environment is a shared responsibility of all citizens, calling for sustainable management of natural resources to meet the growing needs of households, agriculture, and industry.

Sulaymaniyah: Supporting Private Sector Participation
The government has also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding private sector participation across sectors such as education, construction, and services. During recent activities in Sulaymaniyah, Prime Minister Barzani highlighted ongoing efforts to improve facilities and infrastructure while creating more opportunities for private investment. The goal is to strengthen cooperation between public institutions and private companies to deliver better services and accelerate regional development.
