KRG Launches KRDPass to Advance Digital Governance

The Kurdistan Regional Government has launched the beta version of KRDPass, a secure digital identity and service platform designed to simplify access to government services. Built over six years by the Department of Information Technology, KRDPass forms a central part of the KRG’s broader digital transformation strategy aimed at reducing bureaucracy and improving public service delivery.

KRDPass functions as an electronic wallet, allowing users to securely store official documents, verify their identity through biometrics, and manage a growing range of digital government services directly via smartphone. In its initial beta phase, the platform is available to government employees, with services such as salary tracking, biometric ID management, and status monitoring of official requests already in use. The app reached over 100,000 users within five days of release and is projected to surpass one million as access expands.

The digital identity system behind KRDPass has already registered over two million residents at dedicated centers across the Region, capturing biometric data including facial, fingerprint, and iris scans. As the rollout progresses, the application will integrate further services such as passport renewals, bill payments, and property registrations. The KRG’s digital infrastructure, including the MyAccount financial platform launched in 2023, continues to develop toward the long-term goal of building a fully digital and transparent administration for all residents of the Kurdistan Region.
