On September 8, Prime Minister Masrour Barzani laid the foundation stone for the project to accelerate water delivery to Erbil. In his speech, he addressed the city’s water shortage issue and explained that the project will ensure Erbil has an adequate water supply for the next 30 years.
Erbil’s residents have endured water shortages for far too long.

Barzani also announced plans for another project to transfer water from the Little Zab River to the Qushtapa district and surrounding villages. He emphasized the importance of public awareness to prevent water waste and urged residents to use water responsibly. Additionally, he called for the swift implementation of a water recycling project to treat wastewater coming from Erbil.
