Dr. Ramazan was officially appointed as the first KRG Representative to Austria on 28 November, 2010 by the Kurdistan Regional Government-Iraq. In accordance with the constitution of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Ramazan heads the KRG Representation in Austria to promote and encourage the development of economic, cultural and academic relations between the Kurdistan Region of Iraq and Austria.
Born in Bardarash, Dr. Ramazan emigrated to Austria in 1976 following the Kurdish refugee crisis. He was part of the first 100 Kurdish refugees who were granted asylum in Austria by the Austrian government. Upon arriving in Austria, Dr. Ramazan went on to study medicine at the University of Vienna, where he obtained his MD. Prior to being appointed as the KRG Representative to Austria, Dr. Ramazan specialized as a general practitioner in Vienna for over twenty years.
